AS a luxury personal shopper, Amber Gordon, 30, deals with designer items and high net-worth clients on a regular basis. As a teenager, Amber was fascinated by luxury brands but could not afford the goods herself. Amber told Truly: “I grew up on a council estate with my mum, my dad and my sister, we didn’t have very much when I was growing up.” Amber worked in retail and at a magazine before she decided to do her own thing. Amber said: “I started off by buying things that I knew that would sell and then I’d sell them on eBay. I sold a pair of Chanel trainers to somebody on eBay and it turned out she was a footballer’s wife.” From here Amber managed to grow her client base within the football world and beyond. She started her company - Tailored Styling six years ago. This year, Amber is on track to sell £4 million worth of goods. Now, not only does Amber source luxury items, she has been able to afford them herself including her favourite vintage Chanel bag. She has also travelled around the world to luxury destinations including Dubai, Miami and Singapore for both work and leisure. Amber said: “To me money is essentially freedom. You can make your own choices, you don’t have to ask permission to do things, you don’t have to limit yourself. I can just decide something and I’m going to do it.” Today, Amber is on a tight deadline to fulfil a client’s request for a watch... Will she succeed?
